Lighting just struck twice – James Worrell was also featured in the newest Photo District News article ‘Going the Extra Mile.’ (see yesterday’s post on Joey + Jessica!) For James, the article highlighted part of his creative process and how he uses sketches to hone his ideas before taking them into the studio. It’s interesting to note that this isn’t always the case with ad jobs – many times ads are conceptualized and focused grouped long before James is called for his technical expertise. However, the important part about being able to sketch out ideas like this – it shows that James really understands the process and understands how to communicate ideas. His motto is after all, ‘photography for thinking.’ That kind of approach to taking pictures really elevates the work and ensures that he can be trusted with not just the picture, but also the integrity of the whole campaign!
